Unlike Kratos’ appearance in Mortal Kombat 2011 for the PS3, there will be more special guest characters tied to one console for the release of Mortal Kombat X.
Back in 2011, some Xbox 360 gamers were a little displeased that PS3 owners got Kratos in Mortal Kombat. Kratos is Sony owned so Xbox 360 gamers couldn’t get him, but NetherRealm Studios didn’t add in a Microsoft specific character. Xbox 360 owners got nothing special which made them feel left out.
Mortal Kombat X executive producer Shaun Himmerick spoke to Hardcore Gamer. He said the game will have “no platform exclusive characters.” Goro is the only DLC character announced so far, but he will be available on all platforms of the game.
It’s possible Mortal Kombat X will have other types of special characters, but none of them will be tied to only one platform. They have done this to probably not upset console owners. Some gamers were upset that Destiny for PlayStation platforms offered more content over Xbox platforms too.
There were rumors earlier this year that Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth would be added to Mortal Kombat X. People speculated he’d appear on the PS4 and PS3 versions of the game. With this revelation, we now know all of the guest characters (if they are added) should be available on all platforms.
