Star Wars Battlefront was a very contentious title when it was released in late 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game was exceptionally well made, with graphics and sound of the highest quality, but its content was seen as rather small. Since launch there have been a number of DLC releases that added content to the game, with new game modes and maps to give players more to do with their purchase. EA has been talking about the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2, which leaves many wondering if more was in the works for the original game, but according to EA there are no new content updates planned.
The announcement came from the official Star Wars Battlefront Twitter account, with a fan asking if AI bots were planned to be added to the game any time soon. The account responded by saying “There are currently no plans to add any new content updates to Star Wars Battlefront.” A definitive answer, though it does leave the door open for more content if the developer changes their mind.
It is also important to note that they specifically mention that these are content updates, so regular update will likely continue. These are important due to bugs and glitches that are discovered as people play through the game. Despite it being out for over a year, there are always ways to improve the experience, so hopefully EA and DICE have plans to work on this for the foreseeable future.
The lack of upcoming content updates might be disappointing, but it isn’t all that surprising. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is likely in full development mode, and all resources are probably working on that title. EA has said that it will feature a single player campaign and will have more content than the original release, so there is more work to be done there.
