Original Mass Effect finally heading to PS3

In part of a bundled package on the PlayStation 3, EA has managed to finally get the green light to deliver the original Mass Effect to Sony customers. The Mass Effect Trilogy is a compilation of all three Mass Effect titles, two of which had been previously available on the console. The three game set will be available for $59.99 just in time for the holidays on November 6th, 2012.

The Mass Effect Trilogy set will also arrive on the Xbox 360 and PC and the launch will coincide with the first annual “N7 Day”, a worldwide celebration of the popular franchise. Bioware and EA promist a variety of in-game, online and live events for Mass Effect fans.

The Mass Effect trilogy follows the rise of Commander Shepard from Alliance Marine to becoming the galaxy’s most elite soldier – the only soldier who can lead an all-out galactic war against an ancient alien race known as the Reapers. Heart-pounding action meets gripping interactive storytelling as players decide how their unique story unfolds over all three games. With a team of loyal soldiers at their side, each player decides how they will save the galaxy, from the weapons and abilities they utilize to the relationships they forge or break.

Earlier this year Mass Effect 3 released to a bit of controversy. The ending of the game disappointed some, so much so that Bioware went back and re-wrote an entire “enhanced” version of it and released to the masses for free. For PlayStation gamers, the original Mass Effect will be available both in the Trilogy package and as a standalone purchase.
