Microsoft has no plans to release an Xbox One without the Kinect. According to Harvey Eagle of Microsoft, the Kinect is integral to the Xbox One experience, and that releasing an Xbox One without the device is “not in our plans at all,” in a statement to Eurogamer.
Kinect is absolutely integral to the Xbox One experience
“As we’ve said from the very beginning, we believe Kinect is an absolutely integral part of the Xbox One experience.”
While Eagle is adamant about sticking with the Kinect, many have called for a Kinect-less SKU since launch. Analysts and media have pointed some of the blame of Microsoft’s lagging sales to the PlayStation 4 as a result of bundling the camera with every console.
