The Pokemon Company Confirms They’re Developing Games For NX; Shed More Light On Console

Despite several “leaks” that have apparently told us everything we need to know about Nintendo’s new console, seeing as it is set to launch next year we still have very little official information to go on. However, the previous rumor of a Pokemon game coming out for the console appears to be true, as The Pokemon Company has now confirmed that they’re developing games for it.

Speaking with the IBTimes, The Pokémon Company chief executive Tsunekazu Ishihara revealed that they would be making games for the NX, while also shedding a little more light on the mysterious console itself. He said that the “NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device.”

This statement lines up with previous reports suggesting that the NX will be a hybrid console that can be played as a home console linked to a TV or taken on the road as a hand-held. Previous reports have also claimed that this hybrid console will have detachable controllers, but (again) nothing official has been confirmed yet.

While the NX is set to launch in the Spring of next year, the console itself is set to be getting its official unveiling next month. It’s then when we’re expected to learn the console’s actual name, price and release date.
