Pokemon Go Update 1.7.1 and 0.37.1 will be rolling out soon for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. While previous updates to the game have been major affairs, usually bringing new features or limitations, this one is squarely aimed at the newly released Pokemon Go Plus accessory.

Niantic announced the patch by saying “Trainers, Pokémon GO is being updated to version 0.37.1 for Android and 1.7.1 for iOS with minor fixes for the Pokémon GO Plus.” The Pokemon Go Plus accessory hit stores today and has been very tough to find, though we’ve been keeping an eye out on where to find it right here.

The accessory allows players to interact with the game without having to pull out their phone. Reports have been a bit contradictory so far, but it seems like it lets you grab items from Pokestops, catch Pokemon that you’ve caught before, and even track your distance for egg hatching and buddy candies without having to even leave your phone unlocked. This should massively save on battery, and makes things much more convenient, though many are worried that catching Pokemon will be tough, and they’ll end up fleeing more often, especially at higher levels.

So far people seem excited by the device though, with it selling out at most stores. More are coming, however, so keep an eye on the post linked above, and be sure to grab the update once it is available.
