The country of Germany seem to love the PS4 as the console has managed to sell over 1 million units in just under a year.
Sony Computer Entertainment Germany announced the PS4’s sales milestone in a press release. The console came out in Europe back on November 29th, 2013. The milestone was reached on October 21st, 2014. It took just around 11 months for the console to sell over 1 million units in Germany.
Sony also noted that the PS4 is in “pole position” in the German video game market. This means the console is ahead of the Wii U and Xbox One right now in the sales department.
Sony has not updated worldwide sales of the PS4 yet, but at last count over 10 million people own the console with 13.5 million units shipped. The German market accounts for around 10 percent of all PS4 consoles owned in the world. That is an impressive statistic.
It was not too long ago that Sony Computer Entertainment Australia announced the PS4 were leading sales over there. Also, NPD recently revealed the PS4 was the best selling console 10 months in a row in the North American market.
The upcoming Holiday season will be interesting to see if the Wii U or Xbox One can close the sales gap.
