One of the new features of the DualShock 4 is an integrated glowing panel on the top of the controller. This “light bar” is an LED that illuminates in various colors to match a character in game, and has been said to be used as way to identify players.

The light bar is also said to be able to convey valuable information to players. It can be used to relay HP or other vital statistics when playing a game. While the light bar was designed alongside a new camera for the PlayStation 4, players won’t have the option to turn this feature off on the DualShock 4, according to Shuhei Yoshida.

When posed the question on Twitter, Yoshida explained that the light bar cannot be turned off. So, it could be an issue for those that are having reflective problems with their televisions, or players who are worried about conserving battery life on extended play sessions on the PS4.

The PlayStation 4 and it’s new controller will arrive sometime in 2013, but an official release date hasn’t been given for the new hardware. Do you think this a problem for the DualShock 4? Let us know in the comments section, below.
