When Rockstar delayed GTA V last week, it disappointed a lot of their fans. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players who were hoping to get their hands on the open-world title by spring 2013 took to the Rockstar Newswire to air their complaints.
Some of these commenters began to speculate about ulterior motives that Rockstar may have for delaying GTA V, and just so there’s no misunderstanding, the developer has prefaced the entire comments section on the Rockstar Newswire with an official statement.
“We understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news – unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTA V. However this does not give you free reign to be abusive in comments… To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be.”
Rumors have been running wild about the possible reasons for a GTA V delay. Some believe that Rockstar is readying a next-generation version of GTA V. Others believe that the developers have delayed GTA V to make room for a PC and Wii U version of the game. It looks like Rockstar has officially debunked these rumors for now.
