If you’re a die hard Red Dead Redemption fan the Collector’s Box looks like it has a lot of neat collectibles.  While it does feature a lot of stuff, it doesn’t actually contain a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2.  Following the reveal from earlier this month that outed the Special Edition, Ultimate Edition, and Collector’s Box many were left scratching their heads as to why Rockstar wouldn’t include the game.

This is what Rockstar had to say about why the Collector’s Box doesn’t feature a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2.  “Just to clarify, the Collector’s Box is not an ‘edition’ of the game — it’s designed as a separate companion package of collectibles for fans of RDR2.”

To which they explained further:  “In order to ensure players can pair the Collector’s Box with the game edition of their choice (physical or digital), the Collector’s Box does not include a copy of the Red Dead Redemption 2 game.”

The reveal of Rockstar’s launch strategy for Red Dead Redemption 2 has left a bad taste in the mouth of some.  The same reveal also shed light on content that would be tied to the Special and Ultimate Editions of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set for release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 26th, 2018.
