Square Enix Partners With Marvel; Announces The Avengers Project

Yesterday Square Enix revealed that they had a big announcement coming today, and now we know what it is and it’s definitely not what some were expecting. They have revealed that they have teamed up with Marvel for multiple games, and the first game appears to be an Avengers game with the tagline Reassemble.

While we have very little information about this game to go on, we do know that it will be developed by the team responsible for the recent Tomb Raider games, Crystal Dynamics. A teaser for the game was also shared in the tweet announcement, which you can check out at the bottom of this post. It has a woman narrator talking about the world needing heroes, ending with her noting the “need to reassemble.”

A release window for this game was not given, though it appears to be in the very early stages of development as Square Enix added that more information on the game wont be coming until next year. It’s very likely that this could be released to coincide with the next batch of Avengers movies, the first of which will be launching in the Spring of 2018 and is called Infinity War.

Despite the lack of information on the game that we have, it’s definitely interesting to know that we could be getting an Avengers game with the budget that games like Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy have. The closest we’ve really gotten was with the release of the LEGO Avengers game, which is good but definitely isn’t nearly as exciting as what a “realistic” take on the series could look like.

Speaking of that game, we reviewed LEGO Marvel’s Avengers when it launched early last year, saying that it “is what you’d expect in a LEGO game, complete with tons of playable characters and a lot of replay value.”
