While we won’t be getting Star Ocean 6 any time soon, fans of the series will soon be able to get their fix thanks to Square Enix bringing the mobile game, Star Ocean: Amanesis, over to the West in July.
For those unfamiliar, Star Ocean: Amanesis is (or was) a Japan-exclusive action RPG on iOS and Android where players would be able to recruit their favorite characters from the series (even those who were initially unplayable, like SO3‘s Clair Lasbard) and have them forms join up into teams of four. In theory, it would be any Star Ocean fan’s dream, except for the fact that it’s on mobile devices and is classified as a gacha game.
If mobile and gacha games don’t repulse you, however, then be sure to pre-register on Google Play (as of writing this, there’s no equivalent on iTunes).

Star Ocean: Amanesis has been around since 2016 and is poised to start it’s second season this summer in Japan, so when Square Enix is ready to share more (maybe at E3 2018), one thing to look out for is whether all the content that has been released since then will be available to Western audiences right out of the gate.
