There’s been a lot of discussion on who Snoke might be in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. Andy Serkis gave a little more insight on the character.
There might be some slight spoilers discussed here so avoid reading you haven’t seen The Force Awakens already. Although these spoilers are more speculative than actual fact.
Anyway, most people that have seen Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens think that Snoke is actually Darth Plagueis. This is because he is the same species as Plagueis. Not to mention Emperor Palpatine described Plagueis as “wise”. Both Kylo Ren and General Hux call Snoke “wise” too.
However, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Snoke’s actor Andy Serkis denies this. Serkis claims that Snoke is just Snoke and nobody else.
He says Snoke is aware of what happened in the events of the earlier films, but he is “a new addition to the storyline“. Therefore he’s denying the character existed in another form.
Serkis didn’t want to give much away too much, but said Snoke “has a huge agenda“. He also described the character has “a strange vulnerability to him, which belies his true agenda“.
For those that have watched Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens, you may have known that Snoke is paranoid that Luke Skywalker is still alive. There must be something about Snoke that hates that one Jedi is still alive.
However, Snoke could still be Darth Plagueis as actors have known to lie in order to stop leaks from getting out. I won’t give spoilers here but movies like The Dark Knight Rises, Star Trek Into Darkness and SPECTRE come to mind when actors denied the roles that they were playing.
