Star Wars Battlefront is likely years away from release. According to information coming out of the Electronic Arts investor call, Battlefront won’t see release until summer of 2015. This would make sense for EA, considering that’s right around the time that a new Star Wars movie is expected to hit theaters.
Little is known about the shooter, other than that DICE is working on the game. Just how much, if any, Battlefront fans will recognize about this new game is still very much up in the air. What we were showed at E3 2013 at the reveal wasn’t much, other than a big bucket of hope for Battlefront fans.
And they couldn’t be in a better situation. With DICE LA on the case, it seems like the franchise is going to be in good hands. Utlizing the Frostbite 3 Engine that is running Battlefield 4 will likely give Star Wars fans a stunning game out of the gate. It’s hard to imagine that this will become your typical movie tie-in but we’ve seen worse atrocities in the past.
DICE, a team whose known for creating their own original games, was a surprising choice to handle a licensed title. But the developers said they jumped at the opportunity to work on Battlefront. It’ll be a while before we start seeing anything about this game if it isn’t due until 2015. Until then, we’ve always got this teaser.
