StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm will train you to be a better player

When StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm releases next year, it will do so with a brand new training component to help players transition to competitive play. The game will feature a training area that will make the game more accessible to new comers, according to Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime.

“We want to make the game more accessible to players that aren’t necessarily ready to jump into a highly competitive scene,” Morhaime told PC GamesN. “A lot of people do feel intimidated, at lease at first, in playing in ranked play. Unranked matches are a big step in that direction. But, even before that, a lot players never make the transition from the campaign to matchmaking – to playing against people they don’t know.”

Heart of the Swarm’s training area will allow players to face off against the computer, and receive help with how to improve their play. As a player progresses through the training matches, the computer gets more difficult. Morhaime says that the training exercise will help players with builds and tech tree selections to smooth the transition from campaign to the multiplayer.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is the Zerg-centric expansion due in March 2013.
