There are a lot of reasons to be really excited for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Great graphics, a vast world, an intriguing story, all of these combine to form the core of the gaming experience. To pull all of this together CD Projekt Red got some of the best voice talent for the game, which includes Game of Thrones’ Charles Dance, the actor behind the tyrannical Tywin Lannister. Performing in a video game for the first time, the venerable actor is right at home in the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt playing the role of Emhyr var Emreis, the ruthless Emperor of Nilfgaard.
Some of Dance’s comments will surely please longtime gamers, especially those who have been fans of the fantasy genre. As he points out, both fantasy and gaming have evolved immensely over the last couple of decades. Going from simple, often cheap imitations of the worlds they are trying to create, to massive undertakings that truly capture the imagination of the viewer/player. The actor, who was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in the mid-to-late 70’s, has certainly seen some big shifts in the entertainment world over the years, and getting to see him perform for the first time in a video game is pretty enjoyable.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 19th.
