Titanfall developer doesn’t think it can topple Call of Duty

Titanfall developers Respawn Entertainment have no misconceptions about their upcoming game when it comes to sales numbers. Despite the game having been well received by the gaming community, it sounds like the developers have realistic expectations for the shooter.

In a recent radio interview spotted by Gamespot with Vince Zampella, the studio head believes that Titanfall will not be conquering Call of Duty…at least not right away.

“It’s a new brand,” said Zampella. “You build up momentum over the years when you put out a new brand. It’s starting over, so it won’t sell as well as Call of Duty.”

What will be a more interesting comparison is how it sells when compared to Bungie’s Destiny. Activision and EA both have big futuristic shooters due out in 2014, and they are both multiplayer-centric. But that comparison might not be fair either. Titanfall will only arrive on the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
