An update has been posted to the progress of Shenmue 3’s development so far. It looks like things are finally getting underway.

An update was posted on Kickstarter with an interview with Yu Suzuki. Suzuki has now given us details on what he and his team have been up to so far.

First of all, Suzuki said Shenmue 3 is based on 11 chapters that were created 17 years ago. Each chapter is set in a different region. However, he had to alter the story a bit now so that it flowed and sounded more coherent.

Thanks to the Kickstarter, the team is also planning on the overall budget on the game’s development. Suzuki has now mapped up what can be possible based on the amount of money that has been received.

Suzuki also mentioned he plans to update people on the game’s development at least once a month. Unlike some other Kickstarter projects, he doesn’t want the backers to feel left out in the cold.

It sounds like some small Shenmue 3 news may be released at the Tokyo Game Show 2015 next month. Suzuki will be attending the event. He is also going to scout some locations for the game’s development later this year too.
