An official prediction from Disney has now been made to the Box Office numbers for Captain America: Civil War. It will no doubt have one of the biggest opening weekends of all time.
The Hollywood Reporter says Box Office tracking for Captain America: Civil War should be over $175 million in its opening weekend. They said that the number could rise to up to $200 million.
This estimate is slightly lower than the $200 million and $220 million that Heroic Hollywood was predicting a few days ago. However, the number could rise between now and release date as anticipation for the film is at a fever pitch thanks to positive reviews.
Deadpool was tracking to gross over $60 million its opening weekend, but the real number was over $130 million. There is a good chance that Civil War could gross a lot more than $175 million as studios usually like to be modest with their estimates.
Captain America: Civil War has no competition when it comes out on May 6th in North America. There are no big sporting events or other blockbusters preventing people from getting distracted. There is a very good chance it will beat Age of Ultron’s gross of over $191 million during the same weekend last year.
