Earlier this week it was rumored that Walmart would pre-emptively drop the price of the Nintendo 3DS, and today they did just that. The first retailer to make the move, Walmart has cut the device from $249.99 to $169.96. If you plan on taking advantage of Nintendo’s price cut, your best move would be to act quickly. If so, you’ll be eligible for the Nintendo Ambassadors program by sigining into the Nintendo eShop before the 11th with your new device.
If you get signed up by the 11th, you’ll be eligible for 20 free games as part of the promotion. It’s Nintendo’s way of compensating their loyal fan base for purchasing the 3DS at full price just months ago, and you”ll get access to 10 Classic NES titles, and 10 Classic Game Boy Advance titles. Early reports from around the country see gamers having success in picking up the handheld on the cheap at the retailer, but its still unclear if all Walmarts have adopted the price cut a few days early.
