‘Why is the flag blowing?’: Kim Kardashian’s moon landing conspiracy has NASA responding directly to her

Kim's not convinced.

Kim Kardashian recently said she doesn’t believe the moon landing really happened. She talked about this conspiracy theory on her show The Kardashians while chatting with Sarah Paulson, who stars with her in All’s Fair. NASA jumped in to correct her, but now people are upset about how the space agency chose to use its time online.

According to Daily Dot, Kim and Sarah were sitting together getting their hair and makeup done when they started talking about the moon landing. Kim said she would send Sarah some articles about why she thinks it was all fake. She brought up astronaut Buzz Aldrin and said he has admitted in interviews that the whole thing was staged. A producer listening nearby asked Kim to make it clear what she believed, and Kim said she thinks the landing never actually happened.

Kim listed several reasons why she thinks something doesn’t add up. She wondered why the American flag looks like it’s moving in the wind when the moon has no air. She also said the footprints in the famous photos don’t match the astronaut boots sitting in museums. “There’s no stars,” she pointed out as yet another clue. When people said her ideas were too extreme, Kim told them to watch videos on TikTok and decide for themselves.

Buzz Aldrin never said what Kim thinks he said

After going through the interviews Kim was talking about, you can see that moon landing deniers have gotten the story wrong. Buzz Aldrin never said the landing was fake. What he actually said in those interviews has been twisted around to mean something completely different from what he intended.

Sean Duffy, who runs NASA right now, wrote back to Kim on X. He said Americans have walked on the moon six different times and NASA is planning to go back again soon through the Artemis program. He wanted everyone to know the moon landing really did happen.

Some people on social media agreed with Kim’s doubts. One person commented on TikTok, “Unfortunately i agree with her.” Someone else asked, “My biggest question is, if it really happened, why haven’t we been back since 1972?” Another user wrote, “The way NASA responded immediately… almost like they are scared she actually has the money to expose them.”

But NASA’s fast reply to Kim created a whole new headache for the agency. Harvard scientist Avi Loeb talked to NewsNation and said he was annoyed by what NASA pays attention to. He explained that NASA wrote back to the reality star right away but won’t answer questions about 3I/ATLAS, a mysterious object floating through space that scientists want to study. “My complaint is there was an immediate response to her but no response to us,” Loeb said.

A lot of people think NASA should spend more time helping scientists instead of arguing with celebrity conspiracy theories. Some people guess NASA only cared because Kim has millions of fans who listen to what she says.
