The Nintendo Wii U console managed to beat out both the PS4 and Xbox One on Black Friday judging by buyers ordering on the Target website.
Target announced on its website: “Gaming consoles were popular in stores and online, including Nintendo Wii U, which was the top selling item on Target.com”
This is good news for Nintendo heading into the Christmas season. The Wii U was not only the best selling console, but the overall best selling item from the Target website.
For Black Friday, the console was packaged in with Splatoon for $249.99. This is $50 cheaper than the PS4 and Xbox One bundles that were on sale.
Sony were offering a PS4 with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for $299.99. Microsoft offered a similar deal with the Xbox One bundle with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Both consoles were for the 500GB models.
Even though the Wii U is now three years old, many people still want to buy it. It’s possible the latest Nintendo Direct convinced gamers to buy one. This is because Cloud was announced to be a guest character in Super Smash Bros. Not to mention the likes of Zelda Wii U and Star Fox Zero will be out in 2016.
