Microsoft is readying a more comprehensive TV viewing experience on Xbox One, via Smartglass. An incoming update to the Smartglass app will allow users to use their tablets or phones as a physical remote control, alongside the already existing controller and voice support.

Everything that you can do in the One Guide on the Xbox One, will be available in the new Smartglass app. The Smartglass app is also looking to consolidate remote controls as a universal remote, with the ability to power on/off televisions or cable boxes.

The UK and Canada will also be getting One Guide support for the first time since launch. Microsoft plans to roll out the features for these users shortly. You can find a video of the upcoming features in the video below.
