Despite Playtonic Games’ spiritual successor to the Banjo Kazooie series getting pushed back to 2017, that hasn’t stopped Yooka-Laylee’s Toybox demo from coming out on schedule. The special demo is available to download now, though only for those who pledged a certain amount during the game’s Kickstarter campaign.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect with this demo:
“As promised in our campaign, the Toybox isn’t a traditional ‘demo’, but a self-contained, spoiler-free sandbox designed to give Yooka-Laylee backers a taste of the platforming to come in the final game. There are moves to try, custom-built props to play with, secrets to discover and yes, shiny collectibles to hunt out and we’ve even included a never-before-seen NPC to chatter with, but it’s only a small sample of the finished production – and visually it’s incomparable.”
The Toybox demo is currently only available to play on PC, though the game will be coming to consoles, as well. As for who is eligible to receive the demo, “All tiers £20 and above are eligible for a Toybox digital code. All tiers £35 and above are eligible to receive a second Toybox+ add-on code.”
An official release date beyond the 2017 release window for Yooka-Laylee is unknown, though more information is expected to come later this year. You can check out the trailer for the Toybox demo below.
