A Crash Bandicoot Easter Easter egg was recently discovered in Uncharted 4, which has fueled speculation that Sony could be gearing up to relaunch the popular series. However, they have come out to rain on everyone’s parade, reconfirming what Sony has said previously about the popular mascot platformer series.

PlayStation’s Adam Boyes recently took to Twitter to reveal that the rights to Crash Bandicoot are still owned by Activision, which would effectively rule out them being able to bring the beloved bandicoot back from the dead.

However, despite the very firm news from PlayStation, this could be them trying to throw people off track before they make a reveal at some point in the future. There’s always hope!

The last game in the series to be handled by Naughty Dog and Sony was Crash Team Racing, which released for the PlayStation in 1999. The last traditional platforming entry in the series was the 2008 game called Crash: Mind Over Mutant, though the series never experienced the same success as it did with Naughty Dog at the helm.
