Aaron Greenberg has now revealed that Microsoft will be the publisher for Rise of the Tomb Raider and not Square Enix.
A twitter fan asked which company will be publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider when it comes out in late 2015. He wanted to know if Square Enix or Microsoft will be publishing it.
Aaron Greenberg responded by saying that “we are publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider“. This means Microsoft may have helped Crystal Dynamics in some way to help fund its development possibly.
It was confirmed a few months ago that Rise of the Tomb Raider’s exclusivity deal “has a duration”. Dead Rising 3 was also published by Microsoft Studios, but was then eventually ported over to the PC earlier this year. Dead Rising 3 was initially an Xbox One exclusive.
The fact that Microsoft has now revealed it’s publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider, this could mean it will be released for the PC after the Xbox exclusivity deal expires. It might seem unlikely if the game will be releasing on the PS4…
This is interesting news that Microsoft is publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider and not Square Enix. Square Enix however did publish the recently released Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.
