Mario Kart 8 was a smash hit for the Wii U, delivering amazing gameplay and a ton of great content. Fans gobbled the game up, and Nintendo followed up with two sets of DLC, with the supposed last one releasing over a year ago. While fans have since moved on, assuming that this was all they were going to get, a new tweet from Nintendo of Europe has ignited hopes for more DLC tracks and/or racers.
Featuring an image from the classic Mario Kart 64 track Kalamari Desert, the tweet says “Good things come to those who wait.” This could just be a cheeky reference to the crashed racers in the image, with multiple characters running into the train, but the “MK8” hashtag has fans excited. Could Kalamari Desert be brought into Mario Kart 8 soon, perhaps along with some additional tracks and racers?
Both previous DLC packs for Mario Kart 8 delivered some of both of these, with a total of sixteen tracks, six racers, and eight vehicles being added via the two packs. This was a ton of content, essentially adding 50% more to the game than was present at launch. Still, more is always better, so perhaps Nintendo has something planned for release soon.
So far this is just speculation based on a very ambiguous comment, but fans are certainly getting excited at the possibility. With E3 just over a week away we shouldn’t have to wait long. If Nintendo has something to announce it will likely happen then.
