Developer for Rocket League, Psyonix, believes that the Sony PS4.5 console will be like making a game for another console. The developer feels it will take extra time to see the benefits of the newer platform.

GamingBolt talked with Psyonix’s VP, Jeremy Dunham, about the release of the PS4.5 console that is expected to come out later this year. Dunham feels it will take extra effort to make games for the new platform.

Dunham said: “Well, hypothetically in the situation you have raised, it’s no better than having any other additional platform to develop for“. He goes on to say it will be no different than developing for other platforms such as switching from Sony to Microsoft to even the iPad.

Dunham then mentions what other developers have been fearing about the PS4.5. He says some game developers might be hesitant in order to handle another platform. He says it could be “problematic” if developers can’t or aren’t willing to do extra time and effort to make games prettier on the newer platform.

The reason some developers are nervous is because Sony is rumored to require PS4 games to have two modes. One will work on the original console, while the other mode will look prettier if you play it on the PS4.5. It puts extra work on the development team if they are to essentially cater for the PS4.5 on top of the original console.
