It’s hard to believe that it has been one year since Rocket League released as a free PlayStation Plus game and quickly became a gaming obsession for many gamers. While the game was actually a sequel to 2008’s Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, all it took was a much-improved game title for Rocket League to become the craze it is today.
To celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary, developer Psyonix has released a new infographic that breaks down all of the different stats that have accumulated during one year of play. The developer said the following:
“Because of your passion and your support, our relatively-small follow-up to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars has exceeded our wildest dreams and become something enormous. You have made new friends, crossed platforms into new frontiers, and inspired us in ways you’ll never know (and in other ways you’ll know very soon). You’ve made incredible saves, scored amazing goals, and you’ve changed the conversation in the world of competitive esports forever.”
They conclude by saying that “We debated for quite some time what the best way to show you our gratitude was, until we realized that the answer was to keep doing what you want us to do – to keep supporting the game with new Arenas, new Garage items, new Game Modes, and new DLC; to experiment with more Rocket Labs and to increase our presence in the world of competitive gaming.”
While there are a lot of interesting stats to check out in the infographic, some of the biggest ones are that there have been 545 million matches played worldwide and that the game still averages over 1 million players every single day.
