Today has been a big day regarding news of PlayStation 4 Pro and the games that will be optimized when playing them on it, as we recently learned about Hitman’s enhancements and the complete list of optimized launch games. However, we’re now learning about how Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank will be improved by Sony’s upcoming console.
Insomniac Games says that users with 4K TVs will be able to play the game at a much higher resolution, with HDR via a HDMI 2.0 cable also being supported. However, those with a more common 1080p TV will still see a big increase in gameplay image quality, which is thanks to a technique they’re using called Temporal Injection.
“This allows us to not only hit a much higher resolution,” says Insomniac, “but also to do it with jaggie-eliminating anti-aliasing as well. The extra resolution and HDR’s ability to display even more of the colorful Solana Galaxy should combine for the best image quality you’ve ever seen in a Ratchet & Clank game.”
They finish by saying that those who aren’t planning on getting a PS4 Pro will still be able to enjoy the enhancement of HDR for the game on the standard or slim PS4.
