As far as keeping people invested in an upcoming game over the course of several months goes, Capcom has been doing a pretty great job with the Resident Evil 7 demo. We got to get an intriguing look into the game’s world with the first demo, and then we recently got an update that expanded upon it (however slightly). While the game’s full launch is only a few months away, it’s possible that the demo could be updated one last time.
A representative from Capcom France may have potentially slipped some information on a final update, saying that it will be released in January just before the full game’s launch. There were no details released regarding what we may expect from the demo, but there are plenty of loose ends in the latest version of the demo for us to fill in the blanks. There are doors that are locked, no gun to go along with the ammo, and that damn dummy finger still has no use despite attaching to a hand.
Capcom also revealed that the game is expected to last players around 15 hours to complete on their first playthrough, which is pretty standard for this genre. However, they also claimed that playing in VR could easily double that. They didn’t say if this would be due to additional content, or just the simple fact that the creepier atmosphere may result in gamers taking things slower in VR.
Resident Evil 7 is set to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on January 24th, 2017.
