Rumor: Microsoft Releasing Xbox One Slim In 2016 With A Cheaper Price

Microsoft might be thinking of releasing a slim version of the Xbox One that will be cheaper in price. However, this model of the console will be digital only.

This is according to long time Microsoft blogger, Brad Sams, who heard from his internal sources that a slim Xbox One might be coming out in the latter part of 2016.

He wrote: “I have heard from internal sources that the company is considering plans for a lightweight Xbox One that may only be for Windows store games and would compete with the Apple TV. But it’s not clear if these plans have been scrapped.”

Digital downloads have become more popular as time goes by. Microsoft was thinking of making the Xbox One a digital only console, but fan backlash changed all that.

The only good thing to come from a slim version of the console is that it will be cheaper. Sams mentions that it will have a much lower price point than the current model being sold today.

However, a digital only console could also be a bust. Sony released the PSP Go a few years ago and nobody bought that device. People stuck with the older PSP models and Sony discontinued the PSP Go quickly.
