While the Apple Event that is currently live will be dishing out all of the details regarding the hardware side of things for iOS, we got a surprise announcement during the early moments of the event. None other than Shigeru Miyamoto took the stage to reveal a new game called Super Mario Run, which is an endless runner that functions similarly to other 2D Mario games.

Super Mario Run has you jumping, hitting blocks and trying to get to the flagpole at the end of the level before time runs out. The game is specifically designed for the touchscreen gaming experience, allowing you to play the game entirely with one hand.

The game will also feature a new battle mode for the series called Toad Run, which has you trying to beat other players’ high scores.

Miyamoto also revealed that they’ve “prepared a set of Super Mario stickers for iMessage that you can send to your friends and family. In the meantime, you can look forward to Super Mario Run.”

Unfortunately, pricing or a specific release date for the game was not revealed during the event. However, they did confirm that the game would be out by Holiday 2016 for iOS.
