This is no time for arguments about shovelware, because Shovel Knight is coming to consoles. I can only assume it will have spades of new content, and– oh, you want me to stop digging my own grave? Fiiiine.
It’s been just over a year since Shovel Knight’s initial release. Since then, the game has made its way to every current generation console, met with high praise wherever it went. In a post on Yacht Games official blog, the team notes that the retail release of Shovel Knight comes on the back of enormous demand for physical copies for the game. As of the announcement, preorders for the game are live for most major American retailers, including Amazon, Gamestop, Target, Best Buy and Wal-Mart.
The game will be released in America on October 13th, 2015, followed by a European release on the 16th. The retail PC version of Shovel Knight will not be available in America, while both regions will receive the 3Ds, Wii U, Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions. Fans quickly noticed that one handheld was missing from among these: The PS Vita. When asked, a developer responded that there were no current plans for a PS Vita retail release, but that Yacht Games was interested in an ‘eventual’ release.
Shovel Knight was released digitally on June 26th, 2014 for PC, Wii U, and 3DS.
