The Sony PS4 continues to be a big worldwide seller as the console has now shipped over 43.5 million units worldwide since its launch back in November 2013.
From April 1st, 2016 until June 30th, 2016, the company shipped 3.5 million PS4 units. This is up 0.5 million units compared to the same quarter back in 2015.
Sales for Sony increased by 14.5 percent compared to the same quarter last year. This is all thanks to both the increase in sales of the PS4 console as well as its many video games. It was also mentioned a lot more software was purchased via the PSN.
Sony is still predicting that it will ship 20 million PS4 console in the full fiscal year. By mid-2017, the company expects shipments to be at 60 million units. At this rate, the goal is feasible with Fall 2016 going to be one of the busiest seasons in recent memory.
It’s also worth mentioning that 78 percent of Sony’s profits came from the PlayStation division. This goes to show us how important PlayStation is to the company as a whole. Sony’s profits are expected to rise even further with the future releases of the PS4 Neo and the PlayStation VRÂ soon.
