Sony Says Final Fantasy XV Is Coming In 2015 (Update)

One of the most anticipated games that we know about right now is easily Final Fantasy XV, especially since it has technically been in development for close to a decade now. There has been speculation that we may possibly see the game later this year, especially with the demo coming soon alongside Final Fantasy Type-0, but some saw that as only false hope. However, according to Sony we may be seeing the game sooner than many think.

While Sony has held their own keynote at CES tonight, they also revealed earlier today the sales for the console. Included in that report on the Sony Japan site was a list of games that are scheduled for PlayStation 4 in 2015, which included one very interesting title, Final Fantasy XV.

While the listing was in Japanese, a translation shows mention of “this year” and a list of games that include Final Fantasy XV, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Bloodborne, and more.

Obviously, this could just be incorrect as Square Enix would be the only one to know this information for sure, but as closely tied as Square Enix has long been with Sony, it could very well be the case. Even if it does happen to release in Japan in 2015, it still would be more likely to see it come to the US and other areas outside of Japan in 2016. Regardless, wouldn’t it just be fitting to see a game with XV in it release in 2015?

Update: Sony’s website has since adjusted said press release to remove the “this year” part. This could be a case of them accidentally taking away a surprise for Square Enix or just was outright incorrect in the first place. We’ll have to wait to see what Square Enix says at this point.
