With all open-world Ubisoft games there is the unfortunate gameplay segments where you have to climb some sort of tower in order to fill out the game’s map, though it looks like the developer may finally be leaving that feature behind.
Watch Dogs 2 director Jonathan Morin recently spoke with Eurogamer about the gameplay, revealing that the game will not feature the dreaded tower climbing. He said that “It’s not a game where you open your map and everything’s there. There are no towers. You just explore the world.”
What seems to be replacing this feature is gaining new fans and followers, which then unlocks more things to do in the game. “Every time you get followers, it’s like you’re unlocking the DedSec hivemind. You’re also unlocking new knowledge, new operations, new co-op missions. And then organically you hit those end-game milestones,” said Morin.
Watch Dogs 2 will launch on November 15th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
