Bandai Namco has now given a reason why Tekken 7 might not have cross-play between consoles and PC. Annoying factors are getting in the way.
The producer for Tekken 7, Katsuhiro Harada, gave a valid explanation on the matter via Twitter. It sounds like it’s a problem that’s out of his control.
Harada tweeted out: “SFV is PS4 only. KI is X1 only. But TK7 = both. The situation is different. PC can access both platform = it’s platform policy issue. Not us”
This may come as disappointing news for fans that want to play online with as many players as possible. Cross-platform play is beneficial mainly because it enables the online population to remain higher than if it was only tied to one platform.
Whether this will change between now and the release of Tekken 7 remains to be seen. We just have to wait and see if the policies change as a lot of gamers will love to have cross-platform play with lots of games.
There’s still no release date for the game, but it will be out in early 2017. The game will be available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. There’s no word if the game will eventually be ported to the Nintendo NX.
