Gamescom is set to take place later this month in Cologne, Germany, but both Microsoft and Sony are forgoing a conference this year at the event. Sony already has their PSX event coming before the year is up, and now it sounds like Xbox might have something up their sleeve as well.
Xbox head Phil Spencer is known for his use of Twitter to speak with the community, and a common theme that has popped up recently has had people asking him if Xbox was going to hold some sort of event before the end of 2016.
Spencer gave some very vague responses, such as “I want to visit some fans I haven’t visited before and we have some things to say before end of 2016 so we’ll find the times.” However, the more intriguing question came when he was asked specifically if they have looked into holding a PlayStation Experience like event, in which he responded.
“Yes, we use to do this with the X0 events, like X09 etc in Europe, I like those.”
What has made the PlayStation Experience so great is the fan experience involved, so hopefully Microsoft can come up with something similar to give Xbox fans a chance to check out what’s coming in the future. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see when and where Spencer and Xbox will further discuss the “things” he kept alluding to in numerous tweets.
