Finding a good 3D platformer these days is a tall task in of itself, but Playtonic Games is looking to give the genre a much needed boost with their upcoming Yooka-Laylee. Built largely around nostalgia and love of this style of game, many fans have been asking for a physical boxed release and now their prayers have been answered.
Yooka-Laylee was funded through Kickstarter as one of the fastest funded games in the website’s history. This support came due to the fact that Playtonic Games is made up of many of the same people from Rare that created games like Banjo-Kazooie back on the Nintendo 64.
Playtonic Games has been very good at giving updates since the initial campaign and their latest is bound to make many people happy. As revealed on their official website in their latest update, they have announced that Yooka-Laylee will indeed be getting a physical boxed release when it comes out in early 2017.
They did not provide any images of what this boxed release may look like, but they did say that those that have pre-ordered the game through the Kickstarter campaign already will have an option in the future to upgrade to a physical release. Even with no images released, they did tease that more information on this physical release will be coming very soon.
