Battlefield 3 Dev Holds Longstanding Grudge Against Call of Duty
Battlefield 3 creator, Digital Illusions, has held a long standing grudge against the Call of Duty franchise, with Modern Warfare 3 squarely in their sights for this fall. Maybe it's because they believe that they make a better game, yet consumers tend to flock to the competition. Then again it could all just be for show. This year's first person shooter showdown, isn't the first time that DICE has outwardly claimed that Call of Duty and Infinity Ward are an inferior development house.
In Battlefield: Bad Company 2's, decidely average single player experience, the developer took multiple pot shots at the Call of Duty franchise, more explicitly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The video below is footage from the game, where in multiple instances the developers deals a few low blows to the competition. Unfortunately for DICE, at the time they made this game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had already gone on to sell millions and millions of copies, with Treyarch's follow up, Call of Duty: Black Ops going on having topped them all.

I LOVE BOTH games, but here’s the thing; Battlefield will NEVER be as appealing as Call of Duty. It’s all in the mechanics and presentation. People want that fast paced gun on gun violence. In Battlefield you spend most of your time sprinting across the map just be landed on by a heli. People will always flock to COD, plain and simple.

Only people who HAVE to camp to get kills play Battlefield games. If you don’t have a life the BF3 will be your game. Me? I am gonna play COD which has time limits so I don’t waste 3 hours searching 10,000 buildings for 4 guys hiding inside. Good thing about BF is that it makes all the campers leave COD. Mw3 will probably be the crappiest game ever made but will still be better then what that Euro trash DICE can put out.

@Joe, Battlefield is built upon the concept of realism. Spending 3 hours searching an innumerable amount of buildings is quite real believe it or not. If you want a real life example, I shall cite the search for Osama bin Laden. We spent 10 years looking through, I’m sure much more than 10 thousand buildings for ONE guy. And I believe that there are more campers in CoD then there will EVER be Battlefield, just to clarify.

bf3 looks cool, but mw3 will blow it out of the water. EA: people buy more cod than bf because they like it more. if you actualy have the better product, it will show in sales. i once used to love EA because i loved medal of honor, then they made air borne assult and i have been with IW and their cod since. and really EA, stop talking s**t until you on top. No, cod always has more advertising. That’s why it sells more. That has been the case until now. Now bf has a huge ad budget, and will catch up in sales big time. Maybe not top it, because cod has bandwagon appeal, but hurt it a lot
