‘If It Weren’t For Me, They Would Be Doing Terrible’: Trump Just Turned On A Group That Loved Him, And Their Shock Is Palpable

Nothing says loyalty like undercutting your voters.

Cattle ranchers in America feel like Donald Trump has let them down. For years, they had a hard time making money from their beef. Things finally got better recently. But now, Trump wants to do something that could hurt their business.

According to MSNBC, Last week, Trump talked about buying more beef from Argentina. A few days later, his team said they want to buy four times more beef from that country than they do now. Trump says this will make beef cheaper for people shopping at the store. The plan also helps Javier Milei, who runs Argentina and is friends with Trump. America is giving Argentina $40 billion to help fix their money problems.

Ranchers were upset about this plan and said so. Trump got mad and wrote back on Truth Social. He said, “If it weren’t for me, they would be doing just as they’ve done for the past 20 years — Terrible!” He told them they are only making money now because he made other countries pay extra taxes to sell beef in America. He put a 50% tax on beef from Brazil. But he also said ranchers need to charge less money because regular shoppers matter to him.

Ranchers Loved Trump, But Now He’s Going Against Them

Some ranchers made videos on their farms. They said they still support Trump but worry this will wreck things for them right when business is good. A few Republican politicians from farm areas have also said they don’t like this idea. Most of them still don’t want to upset Trump though.

Beef costs a lot more now than it used to. Since Trump became president again in January, ground beef prices went up 20%. Why did this happen? There hasn’t been much rain for years, so fewer cows are around.

Trump also made it expensive for other countries to sell beef here. Mexico stopped sending any beef at all this year because of bugs called screwworms. When there’s less beef but people still want to buy the same amount, prices go up. Ranchers like this because they’re finally making good money.

But it’s not just beef that costs more. New numbers show prices overall are going up 3% each year. Electric bills are getting bigger. Health insurance is about to cost a lot more for millions of people. Many people who own cars can’t pay their car bills. People feel bad about spending money right now.

When Trump ran for president in 2024, he said prices would drop fast once he won. He recently said he fixed the inflation problem. But surveys show most Americans think he’s doing a bad job with living costs.

Not that many Americans actually work as farmers. The government says about 1.5 million people do, which is less than 1% of everyone. But people in small towns and farm areas vote for Trump a lot. Farmers who grow soybeans are having problems too because of Trump’s trade rules. They’re hoping the government will give them money to help. This whole thing shows how Trump can change what he’s doing when it helps him politically.
