‘Like a caveman’: Woman’s dining technique sparked a fierce TikTok etiquette war, is this wrong?

Steakhouse manners redefined.

A Florida woman posted a video of herself eating dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and it turned into a huge fight on TikTok. Khadi shared the clip to show off her nice meal, calling it her “soft life” moment. But people watching didn’t care much about the food. They were too busy talking about the way she held her fork and knife.

According to Bro Bible, Khadi cuts into some lamb chops while gripping her fork in a way that looked different from what most people expect at fancy restaurants. She held it with her whole fist from the top while trying to cut the meat. More than 1.4 million people watched the video, and a lot of them had opinions about her eating style.

A fitness creator named Chris Martin made his own video on TikTok calling out what he saw. He got almost a million views when he said it looked wild to see someone at Ruth’s Chris holding their fork “like she wanted a Flintstones.” Martin said women who want men to take them to expensive restaurants should know how to eat there first. He even said he’d be embarrassed if he took someone out and they ate “like a caveman.”

But hold on, not everyone’s being so harsh about it

A bunch of other TikTok users came to Khadi’s defense pretty quickly. They said judging her was mean because not everyone learns fancy table manners growing up. One creator called @mzuniquecutz made a video that got hundreds of thousands of views.

She said a good friend would pull you aside and show you the right way to do something instead of filming you and posting it online for laughs. “A real friend is gonna stop you and show you the correct way to do it because everybody hasn’t been fortunate to be in places and positions that you have learned the proper etiquette,” she said in her video.

Another creator named Genny jumped into the conversation too. She said learning to cut your food the right way matters whether you’re at a fancy place or not. In her video, she joked that nobody wants to hear someone sawing away at their steak like they’re using power tools.

“I should not hear chainsaws on the other side of the restaurant because you’re trying to cut that well done steak and sawing back and forth,” Genny explained. This isn’t the first time restaurant etiquette has caused controversy online, as dining establishments continue to face scrutiny over how they treat customers.

There actually are some basic rules about eating at steakhouses. You’re supposed to cut your meat one piece at a time instead of chopping it all up at once. That way it stays hot and doesn’t dry out, plus you can actually talk to whoever you’re eating with instead of spending forever cutting everything.

Khadi spoke up about all the attention her video got. She said she’s been to Ruth’s Chris plenty of times and just does whatever she wants. Her boyfriend didn’t have any problem with how she ate, and she thinks everything can be content anyway.

The whole thing has people wondering if we should help each other learn things or just make fun of people on the internet. Meanwhile, social media users continue to expose shocking discoveries that spark viral conversations about everyday experiences.
