Quadruple amputee cornhole star caught following a deadly altercation, and he allegedly involved shot and killed someone

Professional cornhole player Dayton James Webber is behind bars after he allegedly shot and killed Bradrick Michael Wells during an argument over the weekend in Maryland, as reported by The Hill. Officials with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) confirmed that Webber, a 27-year-old quadruple amputee from La Plata, has been charged in connection with the deadly Sunday night shooting.

The investigation kicked off when two individuals flagged down La Plata Police Department officers near La Plata Road and Radio Station Road. These witnesses told officers they were riding in the backseat of a car when the driver, identified as Webber, allegedly shot the front seat passenger, Wells, during a heated argument.

Following the alleged shooting, Webber reportedly pulled over near Radio Station Road and Llano Drive. He then asked the two witnesses to help him pull the victim from the car. However, the pair refused his request, got out of the car, and promptly left the scene. Deputies say Webber then fled the area with Wells still inside the vehicle.

Patrol officers with the CCSO immediately started canvassing potential areas where Webber might have gone

About two hours later, a resident on the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall made a grim 911 call, reporting a body in their yard. When officers arrived, they discovered Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, of Waldorf, dead at the scene. It’s truly a tragic end to what must have been a terrifying situation for everyone involved.

Detectives from the CCSO quickly secured an arrest warrant for Webber. Investigators located Webber’s car, identified as a white Tesla, in Charlottesville, Virginia. The professional cornhole player himself was found at a local hospital in Charlottesville, where he was seeking treatment for an unspecified medical issue. Officers with the Albemarle County Police Department arrested Webber once he was released from the hospital, charging him as a fugitive from justice.

Webber is currently awaiting extradition to Charles County. Once he’s back, he will face serious charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related counts. This whole situation is just incredibly sad and shocking.

Webber has built quite a name for himself as a professional cornhole player, a career that garnered significant attention from sports networks like ESPN. His journey is particularly remarkable because he lost much of his arms and legs to a dangerous blood infection when he was just 10 months old. He’s shared his story on shows like “TODAY,” explaining how he learned to adapt from a young age.

Webber can pick things up off the floor, hunt, fish, write, drive, race go-karts, and even operate heavy machinery. It really showcases an incredible spirit and determination. There’s also a 2024 video circulating that purportedly shows Webber shooting and reloading a pistol, which definitely adds another layer to this ongoing investigation.
