Former Trysten Hill was taken into custody on March 26, facing serious charges after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman, and his mugshot shows a truly unsettling grin. According to the Daily Mail, Hill was charged with third-degree felony assault of a pregnant person, which is a shocking accusation, along with a misdemeanor for interfering with an emergency request for assistance.
Authorities booked Hill into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie, Texas, at 2:30 PM. His bond has been set at $3,500. This arrest is apparently connected to a pair of bond forfeiture warrants that actually stem from a criminal investigation back in 2025. The gravity of these long-standing charges mirrors another harrowing case involving a professional football player and his ex-girlfriend, who stated she was in “fear for her life” after a violent campaign of threats.
It’s unclear what the relationship is between Hill and the pregnant woman, and her identity hasn’t been released. Seeing that grin in the mugshot, especially considering the charges. It really makes you wonder what was going through his mind.
That mugshot grin makes it even worse
Hill’s journey in the NFL started with a lot of promise. He played three seasons of college football at the University of Central Florida, where he really impressed scouts. That led to him being a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, selected 58th overall. That’s a pretty high pick, meaning teams had high hopes for him, expecting him to be a significant contributor.
While things didn’t quite pan out the way everyone expected for the Florida native. Hill never really established himself at the level you’d anticipate from a second-round draft choice. He only appeared in 25 games over four seasons with the Cowboys, recording 33 combined tackles and just half a sack during his time there. The Cowboys eventually cut him in the middle of 2022, which is never a good sign for a player with that kind of draft capital.
After his stint with Dallas, Hill went on to play in six games for the Arizona Cardinals for the remainder of the 2022 season. He then had a brief period on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad before the New England Patriots signed him. Even with the Patriots, he only logged three games across two seasons before they released him in 2024.
The Indianapolis Colts then picked him up for their practice squad, but they also cut him shortly after. He hasn’t signed with another team since then. All told, across his 34 total NFL games and five starts, Hill managed just 39 tackles and one-and-a-half sacks. It’s a career that certainly didn’t live up to the hype of his draft position, and now he’s facing these incredibly serious charges.
