Activision may be using Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 to help promote their next Call of Duty game, which is all but been confirmed to be Call of Duty: Ghosts. In a recent update that arrived on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, users are reporting that within the recent update a new weapon camo was found.
This weapon camo is a pattern that looks like the image we’ve seen in the recent viral marketing for the next Call of Duty game. A video surfaced on YouTube that outed the new camo for Black Ops 2, but was promptly taken down, likely by the request of Activision. Without any official confirmation from the publisher, it’s unclear whether the company will be charging users for the new camo via the new micro-transaction offerings or whether it will be a free unlock/pre-order bonus.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is rumored to be revealed later today, and a mosaic on the call of duty website has revealed that “The Ghosts Are Real”. A recent retail embargo picture put May 1st as the first day to display information about the new game.
Update: The Ghost Camo is indeed a pre-order bonus. GameStop PowerUp Rewards members can get the exclusive Ghosts themed weapon on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, accessible via code on the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live.
