Xbox One new reputation system to reward good Xbox Live members

Xbox One is re-tooling the reputation system in Xbox Live. This new system is one that will attempt to match players with similar behavioral profiles. This means that good, polite members of the Xbox Live community will have their own little slice of gaming nirvana on the online network. While players who grief, harass, and are generally poor members of the community will be matched with members of the same makeup.

According to Mike Lavin, Xbox Live players on Xbox One will begin to see that they are matching up with players that are more similar to themselves when the Xbox One launches. “There’ll be very good things that happen to people that just play their games and are good participants,” says Lavin. “You’ll start to see some effects if you continue to play bad or harass other people en masse.”

“If we see consistently that people, for instance, don’t like playing with you, that you’re consistently blocked, that you’re the subject of enforcement actions because you’re sending naked pictures of yourself to people that don’t want naked pictures of you..things like that have the ability to quickly reduce your reputation.”

Lavin says that these low rep players will be thrown into what sounds like an Xbox Live penal colony, a place which will be nothing but racists, griefers, and sexual deviants.
