Microsoft is inviting Xbox Live members to participate in the 2013 Xbox Live Dashboard Update on the Xbox 360. Â The public beta sounds similar to betas that have been run in the past, giving beta testers a number of iterations of the new dashboard, as Microsoft puts the finishing touches on new features.
Major Nelson relays that the update will “improve overall performance” of the Xbox 360 Dashboard and give users the “ability to conduct transaction with local currency” in the wake of Microsoft’s decision to discontinue the Microsoft Points Program.
This beta is a little bit different than others though. Â To sign-up for the public beta, Xbox 360 players will need to register on Home Hub for the Xbox Dashboard. Â Users will be required to agree to an NDA, but space will be limited to a first come first serve basis.
Look for the sign-ups to go live later today. Â A message from Microsoft says that Xbox Live members in any of the 41 Xbox Live markets are eligible to participate, with players in Japan having the opportunity to join at a later date.
