Retailers ceasing new pre-orders for Xbox One due to supply

A number of popular US retailers have ceased taking pre-orders for the Xbox One.  Best Buy and Amazon have both stopped taking pre-orders for Microsoft’s new system, indicating that consumers are already staged to receive the first run of the new system.

While Amazon is still taking pre-orders for the standard edition of the Xbox One, there is no guarantee that those consumers will receive their console on launch day.  Best Buy on the other hand has stopped taking pre-orders completely.  GameStop is still taking orders, but only at stores that haven’t reached their allotments, which are few and far between.

There are likely many other stores that you’ll be able to find a launch day system.  Retailers like Wal-Mart and Target are still accepting pre-orders for the Xbox One, but it’s unclear just how long they’ll be able to take them without having to turn people away on launch day.

Earlier this week, it was discovered that Sony’s PlayStation 4 had reached sold out status at GameStop.
