Xbox One and PS4 expected weeks ahead of Black Friday

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release dates are still unknown at this point. We’ve got prices, bundles, pre-orders, and specs of the new systems, but neither Sony nor Microsoft has announced an official release date for their hardware. November has seemed like the clear window for the consoles to arrive, and Colin Sebastian has recently expanded on this prediction of the Xbox One and PS4 launch dates.

It would be ideal to launch first to get all of the initial momentum

“From a timing perspective, both platforms will want to launch before Thanksgiving/BlackFriday, and ideally at least a couple of weeks in advance of that in order to replenish the retail channel,” explained Sebastian.

But which console will launch first? The silence from Sony and Microsoft could mean that both companies are patiently waiting for their competition to act first. Sebastian believes that the console who launches first will get “all of the initial attention”.

“In terms of who goes first, it would certainly be ideal to launch first, and gain all of the inital attention and momentum, as console launches are really the only equivalent of a red carpet event for the industry.”

We’re all still waiting for these official release dates to be confirmed, but prices are set. The Xbox One will launch at $499, and the PlayStation 4 will hit stores at $399.
